About the course

Struggle is REAL for young students to read and understand nonfiction texts. This lesson will help us to learn all about nonfiction texts! Based on the common core standards, the ultimate goal of this lesson is for the students to be able to find the main idea and supporting details from the nonfiction text (CCSS RI. 3.2: Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea). Throughout the lesson, the students will learn the definition of nonfiction, the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and the strategies for reading nonfiction texts. Students will not only learn the basics of nonfiction texts but also have time to practice finding nonfiction texts and utilizing the learned strategies.
