About the course

Understanding music theory opens us up to the world of Music and Arts. It teaches us a whole new language that allows us to interact with other musicians on an international level. It also increases our skills in musical literacy and instrument playing. Music theory for dummies will further our understanding of the basic elements of music theory including new time signatures, and how to write minor scales (both harmonic and melodic).

Instructor

I first began tutoring in piano and music theory during my high school years in Italy, and continued to do so when I went to the UK for my undergraduate degree. Knowing music is like knowing another language, and I am pleased to have been able to pass on this knowledge to other young people. Since moving to New York, I have been an active volunteer composer with the 52nd Street Project. I find it so rewarding to collaborate creatively with these students, and to help their imaginations grow and thrive. I truly want my students to feel that they sky is the limit for their creative pursuits, and that they don’t feel held back by any gaps in their artistic knowledge. An arts education should be accessible to everyone, and I’m so grateful to Gooroo for the opportunity to reach more students.
