About the course
Lights and color are incredibly important to every film. Certain types of lighting can completely alter the mood and tone of the scene. Colors have long held symbolism in both literature and film. In this lesson, we go through a basic overview of the standard lighting setups (and a few fun tricks!) and what each color symbolizes in film.

Hi! I'm Julia and I just graduated in May 2020 from SUNY Purchase where I studied filmmaking. I have been a teacher for about 4 years. I have taught both preschool and high school students. While teaching at Gooroo, my areas of teaching fluctuate between middle to high school level film courses and preschool to elementary crafts and educational activities. I enjoy helping students unlock their full potential in order to pursue their passions! My philosophy is to do what you love, take risks, and don’t be afraid of making mistakes (that’s normally when the best lessons are learned!).
