Work it Out: Circuit Training
Are you sitting in your bed or at a desk right now? Well, it’s time to get up and stretch! It is so important to move your body everyday, and it’s something we all can forget about. That’s why I want you to come stretch with me! I will be leading a relaxed, low-stakes full body stretch. There are no expectations; I just want you to do what feels good for your body. We will be stretching everything from your back to your ankles; no part of your body will feel neglected. Give some love to your body today and stretch. Follow along, take the modifications you need for your body, and then relax at the end with a breathing mediation.
Sustainable Cook and Student
I attended the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, NY where I was able to explore my multiple different passions through engaging classes and fun clubs. I am currently on a gap year but am excited to attend Northwestern University next fall with an intended major in Environmental Chemistry.
Throughout my time in high school, I tutored many students in chemistry. As early as 10th grade, my chemistry teacher recommended me to the school’s peer tutoring program because she saw how deeply I was grasping and understanding the information being taught. I have worked with students on homework, test prep, and lab report editing. I have had friends of my tutees approach me with quick chemistry questions because their peers had expressed how helpful I had been with them. In addition to tutoring high school chemistry, I have worked with kindergarteners and first graders on reading skills and comprehension, so I feel confident working with kids of all ages :)
I have always prided myself on being a woman of many passions (one may say a Renaissance Woman), and I am very excited to share my knowledge and skills with you. You can expect videos of all sorts from me: engaging chemistry lectures and tutorials, cooking instructionals with an emphasis on sustainability, drumming lessons, arts and crafts walkthroughs, and some stretching or dance classes. As you can see, my interests are widespread, but they are all deep. I also think there is a lot of overlap here that you can expect to see in my videos; I bring my love for arts and crafts into my baking and cooking, music and rhythm are integral to dance, and the world of chemistry plays a large impact on how to save our environment. My goal is to make these videos fun and captivating, and I think I’ll accomplish that with my outgoing and bubbly energy. So, if any of these wide array of topics sound interesting to you, come watch my videos!
I started tutoring as soon as I could, which for me was in 11th grade. After a successful year in 10th grade Chemistry and a recommendation from my teacher, I signed up to tutor fellow high schoolers as soon as possible. After I got over my original nerves, I realized that I looked forward to my tutoring meetings because I really enjoyed being able to help my tutees. I have always looked up to my teachers, and being able to pass on the knowledge that they had given to me to help somebody else felt really powerful and meaningful. Since then, I have looked for other opportunities to tutor both in my school and through programs like Reading Partners. When I decided to take a gap year, I knew I wanted to engage with tutoring to help students struggling with online learning or looking for extra support, which is why I am so excited to be working with Gooroo.
Students watching my courses should expect to gain new passions and interests they never realized they had before. I believe that you can never be too old to learn a new skill, which is why I love Gooroo’s mission of encouraging and igniting passion. I want to provide content that even complete beginners can watch and feel supported and encouraged by because starting a new hobby or academic subject can seem really daunting and overwhelming when it should be fun. Everyone gets confused sometimes, but it’s important to realize that everyone has potential. I love everything I am teaching, so I hope you can feel my enthusiasm and passion for my courses and that helps invigorate your learning.
