About the course

Did you know that In a study done by the Theatre Communications Group in 2016 they found that out of 1,917 plays that were produced that year only 24.6 percent of them were written by women? Because women’s plays continue to be underproduced, this Course Series is a resource for learning more about some of the brilliant artists' who have greatly impacted theatre as we know it. We will start by talking about the lives of each playwright. Then, we will look closely at their work by reading and analyzing excerpts of their scripts. After, we will learn about what the playwrights themselves say about their work and processes. We will end each course with a theatre exercise in response to what we have learned about each playwright.
