About the course
Learning a new language is difficult, but it can be fun to understand new phrases that have particular meanings. In this course, we will go over some American idioms that make American English unique! Whether you are an ESL student new to the English language or a well-seasoned native speaker, you are bound to learn some new idioms, and I hope this course makes English that much more interesting to you!
Instructor
Hello, and welcome! My name is Negeen, and I can’t wait to be your instructor! I’m Iranian-American and originally from Montana, but moved to Dubai in high school. I received my BA degree in anthropology from UC Berkeley, then started medical school in Cyprus. I transferred back to the States where I am completing my medical studies as an aspiring psychiatrist. As you can see, I have been privileged to travel a lot, and my journeys have shaped my interests. The English language and English literature have always been passions of mine. Throughout my academic career, I have gained a lot of experience as an English and ESL tutor for students of all ages. I believe students learn most effectively when they realize they can utilize the skills they are taught in their own lives, which usually comes from an enjoyable and creative learning experience. It is my goal to provide that for you!
